Good evening Woodson Wave Families, this is Liz Berry with some updates for the week.  Congratulations to our staff member of the week Mrs. Korinne Jones.  Mrs. Jones has worked hard to plan and direct WONDERFUL Christmas concerts. Students, staff, and families have enjoyed being a part of the festive performances.  Mrs. Jones is a true STAR!!  Paisley Marvel in Pre-K3 is one of our star students. Paisley is a great friend to all of her classmates, whenever a classmate is upset or playing alone outside. Paisley always includes them and will play with them.  Easton Thomas is our other star student for the week.  Easton is a great friend to everyone! He is always kind and if he sees that someone is sad, he is quick to cheer them up.

Monday, December 11th, will be the last day for After School Clubs.  Thank you to Ms. Sterling for organizing this and to all of the staff who ran a club.

Also, Monday will be a paid casual day to support a WES family in need.  Anyone who is participating in wearing casual MUST pay; students will need to pay $1.00 and staff pay $2.00.

Tuesday, December 12th, will be NO school for Pre-K 4 students only.  All other grades will report to school and have a regular day.  There will be school for Pre-K 3 students and Kindergarten through 5th Grade students.

Wednesday, December 13th, will be our 3rd-5th grade Winter Concert, under the musical direction of Mrs. Korinne Jones at CAHS beginning at 6:00 pm.  Students may begin to arrive after 5:30 pm and should report to the cafeteria.  We are very excited to see all of their hard work and practice in action.  There is no doubt it will be a show stopper and the audience is in for a real treat.

Thursday, December 14th, will be a paid casual day to support our Band & Choir.  Anyone who is participating in wearing casual MUST pay; students will need to pay $1.00 and staff pay $2.00.  Please make sure students are following casual day guidelines.

Also on Thursday, students will be participating in the December PBIS Incentive who earned it, which is cookie decorating for the littles and Gingerbread Houses in our upper elementary grades.

Friday, December 15th, Quarter 2 Midterms will be sent home.  Also Pre-K Progress Reports will be sent home.  Please be on the lookout for your child’s midterm.  We will have a paid casual day on Friday to support an SCPS staff member in need.  Once again, anyone participating will need to pay; students $1.00 and staff $2.00.

Looking ahead to the short week next week on Monday, December 18th, we will have Parent & Teacher Conferences from 4:05-6:00 pm.  The Band & Choir concert will immediately follow beginning at 6:00 pm in the WES Gym.  Also, the 18th will be the last day to turn in the RSVP for our STEM night event, which will be on January 25th from 5-7:00pm.  You need to turn this in to your child’s teacher in advance, so we can order enough science kits for our students, who will be attending.

Next Tuesday, December 19th will be a free casual day for all as it is the last day of the month.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message.  Have a good weekend!
