Good afternoon this is Liz Berry with some updates for the coming week. Congratulations to our Staff Member of the Week Mrs. Angie Pendry.  Angie is an amazing part of the Pre-K 4 team. She is always pitching in ideas to work with students. She does so much during the school day. She is continuing her education to help make her the best para for our students by taking college classes.  She also tutors a group  of students and the relationship she has with them is amazing to see. She encourages the students to always do their best.

Congratulations to our Students of the Week, Jeremiah Buchholz in 1st grade and Jamar Alexander in 2nd grade.  Jeremiah is always willing to jump in and help a friend.  His classmates are lucky to have him in class.  Jamar has been working very hard to do his best everyday and is kind and helpful to others.  He participates in class discussions, makes sure that all of his assignments are completed to the best of his ability and is a great friend.  Way to go Jeremiah and Jamar!!!  We are so proud of you!!!

A special shout out goes to our Assistant Principals, Ms. Faughn Blair and Mr. Jensen Long during National Assistant Principals Week.  Our school is fortunate to have wonderful assistant principals that go above and beyond to provide support and show genuine care to our students.  Our school would not be the same without them and their amazing contributions.  The words “thank you” are not enough to begin to describe the gratefulness we have for them both.

The staff at WES would like to congratulate Mr. Zachary Bartemy of SCTHS for winning the Teacher of the Year for Somerset County as he goes on to represent SCPS at the state level for 2024 TOY.

Congratulations to Sebastian Munoz-Morales and Zachariah Welch for being the overall 3rd Grade GT Challenge County winners.  Also, congratulations to Rachel Bacchus Kachenga who placed 2nd in the 4th Grade County GT challenge.  We are so proud of each of you!

A notice went home with all students on Friday regarding the Solar Eclipse.  This letter was an OPT OUT notice, so you only need to return to sign off portion if you DO NOT want your child to participate in any solar eclipse viewing.  (The school has purchased solar eclipse glasses to provide the proper precautions.)
