Good afternoon, Woodson Wave Families, this is Liz Berry with some updates for the week. A huge shout out to our administrative associate staff in the front office Mrs. Jennifer Ward, Mrs. LeeAnn Marsh, and Mrs. Grace Meyer. They help to prepare everything for the beginning of the year and a smooth opening of school. These ladies are fabulous and help with too many things to begin to mention.
We appreciate all of our families, who were able to visit during our annual Open House, this past Thursday night. It was great to see our returning students and those new to us.
We hope that everyone was able to enjoy their Labor Day Holiday. We are very excited to welcome our students for the 2024-2025 school year. School will begin tomorrow on Tuesday, September 3rd, for our students who are in PreK-3, PreK-4, and Mrs. Bennett’s Special Education class. This is part of our county-wide staggered start. All students will come to school on Wednesday, September 4th. This includes Kindergarten -5th grade students.
Parents may walk their child in on the first day of school. After that, parents are kindly asked not to walk their children into school. We have plenty of staff on hand that are able to help walk students down to their classes. This is to ensure safety for our students and staff.
Any parent dropping their student off by car in the morning, must do so in the car line. Parents are not permitted to drive through our bus lane during morning arrival or afternoon dismissal as this causes a safety hazard. Also, this year we will be relying on our car tags in the car rider line. If you send someone to pick up your child, but they do not have a car rider tag, then they will have to park and physically go into the front office to sign the child out. This is also for safety.
Students will be able to wear a Woodson spirit shirt or house shirt on Fridays only with uniform bottoms. Woodson spirit shirts are on sale at the school and order forms are available.
Please remember to send your child in proper uniform attire. Students must wear a collared solid color shirt. Colors for tops are as follows; navy blue, baby blue, white, black, gold, yellow, burgundy, purple, pink, orange, and forest green. Please note red and grey shirts are not permitted. Bottoms can be khaki, navy, or black. Bottoms can be shorts, skirts, or jumpers. Please note the bottoms should not be shorter than two inches above the knee. If a student is found to not be in appropriate uniform attire, a phone call will be made home to allow the parent or guardian of that student an opportunity to bring up the proper clothing. We also have uniforms on hand that are washed and can be borrowed for the day.
Please send a water bottle with your student so they can get water from the water cooler. Please remember to send in the device agreement for your child, so they are permitted to use their device at school.
We appreciate all of your continued support. We look forward to an amazing school year! Thank you for taking the time to read to this message and have a good evening.
