Good evening, Woodson Waves, this is Liz Berry with some updates for the coming week. Congratulations to our Staff Member of the Week, Mrs. Brittany Derrickson. Mrs. Derrickson teaches Kindergarten at WES. Mrs. Derrickson is always willing to go the extra mile to help all of her students. She is dedicated, kind, and willing to help wherever she is needed. Kudos to you Mrs. Derrickson, we are so happy you’re a WES Wave!
Also, a huge shout out goes to our Students of the Week, Evelyn Atkins-Tellez in Pre-K3 and Abel Wilson in 2nd grade. Evelyn is a kind friend to all and makes sure all of her friends are included during center time. Evelyn always tried her best and uses her manners. Abel is a great student, who follows the Woodson Way every day. He does his best every day and is a great addition to his classroom. Way to go Evelyn and Abel!!!
We hope that everyone enjoyed our virtual days and we thank everyone for navigating this together. Hopefully we are done with inclement weather. Please make sure your child turns in all of their packet work that accompanied their live teaching sessions. Attendance will be adjusted for students who were marked absent, after their completed work packets are turned in. To say that we are looking forward to the return of our staff and students is an understatement.
Choir resumes on Tuesday, January 28th. Our PBIS Incentive will be held on Wednesday, January 29th. Students who have earned the incentive will enjoy ice cream from the Island Creamery, a yummy treat.
Students will be dismissed early on Thursday, January 30th. Dismissal begins at 12:30 pm on Thursday. This is also the end of Quarter 2. This being the last day of the month for students, we will have a free casual day for all students and staff.
Friday, January 31st, school is closed for students due to a professional development day.
This week, please be on the lookout for our Title I Parent Survey to go home for parent input on our spending. This is part of our federal requirements. Thank you in advance for your participation.
Miss Jill Price will be administering the WIDA Access test this week for our EL students. We wish them all the best on their assessment this week.
Our Teacher of the Year campaign is underway. There are nomination forms going home and there is an electronic form to nominate an amazing WES teacher to be the next TOY.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message and have a good evening.
