Good evening, Woodson Wave Families, this is Liz Berry with some updates for the coming week.  Congratulations to our Staff Member of the Week, Mrs. Amy Austen.  Mrs. Austen is a 5th grade teacher.  Mrs. Austen quickly and amazingly adjusted to virtual learning days by continuing to use her in-class structure of a daily warm-up, explicit instruction, and independent practice in Google classroom format.  She provided quality instruction and then gave students the opportunity to practice in break out rooms.  Way to continue addressing meeting standards while managing virtual learning.  You rock Mrs. Austen!

Congratulations to our Students of the Week, Amelia Bentley in PreK-3 and Hunter Nelson in 2nd Grade.  Amelia is a kind friend to all her peers, teachers, and anyone she may come across throughout the day.  She is eager to help others and always does her best.  Hunter is always respectful, kind, and a wonderful friend to others.  He is a role model in his class.  We are so proud of both of you!!!  Way to go!!!

Congratulations to our Spelling Bee Winners!!!  In first place was Paxton Ward, in 2nd place was Kaden Millard, and our 3rd place winner was Zechariah Pryor.  We wish both Paxton and Kaden luck as they compete at the Regional Level.

The Joe Corbi Fundraiser ends on Tuesday, February 11th.  Please make sure you have your orders into Mrs. Korinne Jones.

This Friday, February 14th, students and staff may enjoy a free causal day.  Students must adhere to the casual day guidelines.  We encourage everyone to dress in Valentine colors if able.  Students can wear jeans, but only ones that do not have rips, shreds, holes, or holes with patches behind them even if they were purchased that way.

This Saturday, February 15th, is National Resource Officer Day.  We applaud the daily work of Officer Rop at WES.  He is an asset to our school and ensures all, big and small stay safe every day.  His hard work and dedication is recognized.  We appreciate Officer Rop!!!!

There will be school for students or staff next Monday, February 17th, in observance of President’s Day.

We will have our Book Fair the Week of February 18th through February 21st.  We will be sending home permission slips, so parents and guardians can let us know who is authorized to take your child to the bookfair.  This helps us ensure the safety of our students.

Session I Clubs will end on Monday, February 24th.

We appreciate everyone who took the time to nominate a teacher for our 2025 Teacher of the Year Campaign.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message and have a good evening.
