Earlier in the week, SCPS held the first National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) cohort meeting for teachers pursuing certification in 2024. Recent NBCT recipients, Anna Breland of CHS, and Zachary Bartemy of SCTHS, attended to share their experiences pursuing certification in 2023; offering valuable insights, encouragement and Q&A time for this year's cohort of SCPS educators pursuing certification. We have gained some NEW staff members since the start of the school year! We seperated our Prek 3 and Prek 4 class and gained Ms. Justice as our Prek4 teacher while Mrs. Stevens continues to teach Prek3. Prek3 has gained two assistants! Our previous staff member Mrs. Mayo has joined the Prek3 team as well as our newcomer Mrs. Travers! We are so lucky to have these ladies join our team!




Hazardous road conditions continue to pose safety concerns for school buses at low tide today. As a result, schools will be closed for an asynchronous virtual school day tomorrow, Thursday, January 11, 2024. Essential & 12 month staff should report to their buildings by 8:30 AM.


Schools will dismiss early today, Tuesday 1/9: Secondary at 11:30 a.m. and Elementary at 12:30 p.m. Tomorrow, Wednesday 1/10, schools are closed for an asynchronous virtual school day. The shelter at Washington High School opens at 5:00 PM today. Be safe!


Due to impending storms, all after school activities are cancelled Tuesday, 1/9 and Wednesday, 1/10. As an additional precaution, schools will open with a 2-hour delay on Wednesday, 1/10/24. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to monitor the situation.

Here are our new DIS vocabulary words of the week! In an effort to improve our vocabulary usage across all grade levels, we have created these vocabulary cards for our school and families to use at home and in the classroom. We encourage you each week to try to incorporate our DIS word(s) of the week into your conversations at home. This week's words are inspired by the Disney movie, " Elemental" Thank you for your continued effort in supporting our students' education!


January 8th-12th, We have a casual for a cause for $1 on Monday to support the loss of a student at CHS with the theme of Pink in her honor. Parent/Teacher Conferences are 4 to 6 pm, No tutoring. Our AHA fundraiser starts on Friday! Info will be coming home then. We are collecting tabs! Pop 'em and send them in!


Ms. Finley in 3rd Grade had her artwork chosen to be the cover of Somerset County Public School's Holiday Card! We are proud that her artwork was chosen among other entries in the county. Congratulations and Happy Holidays!


Happy New Year! This short week includes Wednesday- Rock Creek after school church group Friday-PJ or FREE CASUAL for all and our December incentive/class parties. On Monday the 8th are parent/teacher conferences. Reach out to your student's teacher to schedule!

Due to continued flooding and unsafe conditions, schools are closed tomorrow, Tuesday December 19, 2023 for students, teachers and 12 month staff. Winter Break begins Wednesday, December 20. Schools reopen Wednesday, January 3, 2024. Have a safe and happy winter break!


The Christmas Lights event tonight has been cancelled for our 5th grade students. We are hoping to get photos of the lights in the area and have students judge in class tomorrow. Thank you.
