WES has 2 new students! 2 new baby chicks have hatched in Mrs. Derrickson's 2nd grade room with another one on the way. The students have voted on their names - Nugget and Junior (aka Tender). They will be celebrating the Memorial Day weekend with Mrs. Derrickson's family! Come join us for our band and choir's spring concert is on May 21st at 6pm in WES gymnasium. Doors will open at 5:45pm. Students participating in the concert should report to the music room starting at 5:45pm. Students should wear their blue Woodson music t shirt and black bottoms. No leggings or athletic wear on the bottom. If your family is donating a dessert for the concert, please drop that off to the music room by 3:30pm. We hope to see you there for a wonderful evening of music! Únase a nosotros para el concierto de primavera de nuestra banda y coro el 21 de mayo a las 6 p.m. en el gimnasio WES. Las puertas se abrirán a las 5:45. Los estudiantes que participen en el concierto deberán presentarse en el salón de música a partir de las 5:45 p.m. Los estudiantes deben usar su camiseta azul de música Woodson y pantalones negros. Students who are attending the choir field trip tomorrow, meet at the picnic tables in front of the school at 6:45 am. The bus will be leaving at 7 am. Students should wear their blue choir tshirt they received today at school along with black bottoms (no leggings or athletic wear). Remember to bring your packed lunch unless you indicated on your permission slip you needed a school lunch. We look forward to a wonderful trip. See you in the morning! Los estudiantes que asistirán a la excursión del coro mañana se reunirán en las mesas de picnic frente a la escuela a las 6:45 am. El autobús saldrá a las 7 de la mañana. Los estudiantes deben usar la camiseta azul del coro que recibieron en la escuela hoy junto con pantalones negros (no calzas ni ropa deportiva). Don't forget Transition Night tonight from 4:00-6:00. Student will have the opportunity to meet next year's teachers and received learning materials that can help prepare them for next year. Our community partners will be here with information about summer programs available in the area. Don't miss your chance to meet Dr. Taylor, principal of Somerset Intermediate School. She will be here to greet our current 5th grade students transitioning to the Intermediate School. We look forward to seeing everyone. No olviden la Noche de Transición esta noche de 4:00 a 6:00. Los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de conocer a los maestros del próximo año y recibirán materiales de aprendizaje que pueden ayudarlos a prepararse para el próximo año. Our 4th grade students presented their Teakletonia Exhibition. Staff and families were about to experience food items, games, clothing, and writing materials used during the 19th century. Our counseling team did an amazing job reminding us our mental health is very important. Thank you ladies for all the time and effort you put in to making this week fun. Students may wear casual for free on Friday, May 10th. Please wear green in support of Mental Health Awareness Month. Please be mindful of the county dress code when choosing your perfect outfit. The last day of the month are free casual days for students. Additional casual days are announced by the office staff. The following guidelines must be followed for ALL casual days: Jeans may be worn, CANNOT have rips, shreds ,holes, or shreds with patches behind them even if they are purchased that way. All clothing (dresses, skirts, or shorts) should be at least fingertip length, when hands are at sides. Please be mindful it should be respectable and modest in length. Students are NOT permitted to wear jackets/shirts with hoods, NO tank tops, NO backless tops, NO halter tops, NO low cut tops, NO crop top or mid-drift tops that show the stomach, and NO ripped tops. Leggings should be worn with a top that comes down to mid-thigh or a tunic top. If a student does not follow the dress code guidelines, a parent/guardian will be called to bring appropriate clothing to the school for their child. Students may lose their casual day privilege if they do not follow the casual day guidelines.
